It’s been a busy first few months for the Holly Road Supportive Care Centre. We have hosted many local visitors who have come to see the centre and, increasingly, they are visiting for information, advice and support.
As well as general information, we have already put together a varied program of activities that people can join in. We are offering a range of workshops and drop in sessions provided by local charities.
- We’ve been pleased to host Age UK Burton, Alzheimer’s Society, Uttoxeter Police and Changes Uttoxeter. We have lots of fantastic new partnerships planned for the new year.
- We were also proud to make 11 new Dementia Friends at our first information session held in November. Dementia Friends aims to help people understand what it is like to live with dementia and improve support to the community. We are looking to host more of these sessions in the new year.
The centre is also offering specialist hospice services including lymphoedema support and bereavement help point so families from Uttoxeter and surrounding areas can receive support closer to home. We have recently started offering our new Complementary Therapy service to hospice patients and their families.
We are delighted by the response so far and feel this is a fantastic start to our vision for creating a compassionate community where people support each other and have confidence to talk about potentially difficult subjects like death, dying and bereavement.
Thank you for your support.
