Volunteer Experience: Gwen

Our centre wouldn’t be able to provide support to our community without a dedicated team of volunteers who give their time and their skills for free. They’ve joined the centre from the start and have seen the centre grow and develop. Thank you to all of our volunteers. We couldn’t do this without you!

One of our volunteers, Gwen, has written a short piece for this blog to tell you about her experience and why she made the decision to volunteer.

“Having acquaintances and friends that had used the excellent services at St Giles Gwen-croppedHospice, I had fluttered my wings and waved my wand on the midnight fairy walk around Lichfield in the past which was great fun and raises funds for the main hospice. I had for a long time been interested in volunteering, however the distance to Whittington had been an obstacle.

When I was told of Holly Road Supportive Care Centre opening in the Autumn of 2015 I thought this was just the way I could be of some practical help.

Since coming here I have met some lovely people and it’s a good feeling to know someone has come in with a problem and you have done a small part in helping them solve it, even if it is only making them a cup of tea and listening. I think the centre has a lot to offer the local community.”

If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the enquiry form on this website. We’d love to hear from you.
